Pink Pears

‘A collection of still life snapshots, partly from life, partly imagined. Snapshots of home, of liveable spaces, these artworks invite you to immerse yourself within the space. Relax in that chair, have a cup of tea with a friend and enjoy the simple things in life.
Opening myself to whatever might translate onto the canvas, I embraced materials and techniques that I haven’t used for some time. Mono prints for collage as well as water soluble drawing media were introduced in conjunction with my layering of pigment and dialogue of mark making. As these paintings progressed it was apparent that the familiar shape of pears continued to show themselves. Sometimes quite dominant, other times just a faint scribble but in the end ‘Pink Pears’ was born.
In the words of Margaret Olley - ‘a good painting to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires’.
This is how I feel about this collection. Each with its own personality, they have inspired me, kept me on my toes, comforted me, exasperated me, challenged me and laughed with me.’
